Summer is here

Sunday, June 17, 2007

How does the time go by so fast?

We had Keegan and Ariel here part of the week. Ariel
was here Monday, Wednesday and Friday; Keegan was here
Friday. Keegan did a bunch of weed whacking and some
spading for me. Robert had him doing some other things,
too. Ariel wanted to be where Keegan was so it was an
on-going trial to keep her tuned in to other projects
that didn't include Keegan.

Ariel is taking swimming lesson at the Y on Monday and
Wednesday. She is also involved in the library's "History,
Mystery Tour." This is really an excuse to get kids to
read. Ariel is a very reluctant reader. She can read,
but doesn't want to. It's too sedentary for her active
body.

Allison called Saturday night to say that Trace is
Oliver in the children's theater production of "Oliver"
and she'll put a flyer in our mailbox. We both look
forward to going to that!

On Tuesday, last, I saw Dr. Roberts, my ophthalmologist
and we determined that this was the summer to do my
cataract surgery. I await a call from his assistant
to set up the time.

Also on Tuesday, we met Tracy Miller (my former cleaning
person)at the Sweet Tomato in Westminster for supper.
She is leaving this weekend for Rhode Island where she
will stay with her cousin until she finds a job and place
to live. She's gone from Colorado. I'll miss her!

On our way home, after leaving Tracy, we stopped in
Broomfield at Karen Fields to drop off some square dance
tapes she has requested. The old group was there doing C1.
There were 3squares which looked impressive, but later
discovered this was unusual and they are going through
the same old struggle to get enough people to dance to
keep the C2 and C3 going. We were introduced as the couple
who had started the group initially. Which is true. It was
good to see some of the folks we had danced with and a shock
to see some of the others whom we may have avoided.

Karen's house is for sale. We expected this to happen.
It is a 7000 square foot house and they bought it, I
assume with a sliding interest rate and the could afford
it at the low interest rate at which they bought it, but
now the rates have gone up and in the meantime they have
taken equity out of the house so the mortgage is still high.
It's sad, but happening over and over again at this time.
