February 27, 2015

Jeanne is here; she arrived yesterday morning and we talked
the rest of the day. In the evening Robert made a fire in
the fireplace and we three sat in front of the fire and talked.
It was very pleasant.

This morning Jeanne worked on her book and I played scrabble
and baked a pie. Lorena arrived and Jeanne and I left for Boulder.
I wanted to show her what had happened to Pearl street east of 30th.
Much of Canyon on the west side has also become multiple apartment
buildings.  A veritable slum, in the making.

Since Wednesday we have had about a foot of snow.  The trees are
all covered with snow and now that the sun is out they look really
beautiful.  It has also turned very cold, single digit temperatures
day and night.  It was so warm the first two weeks of February, even
80F. one day, that it is hard to get used to it being so cold.

I took a short respite from Porter Osborne; I didn't want them to
end too soon.  I have read a couple of J. D. MacDonald mysteries.
Now I'm back to Porter and the last of the trilogy.  It'll be sad
to have them end, but I guess we all grow up, even Porter who
graduates from college at 16.

It is so good to feel good again; it's been a long time since the
7th of July when I had my first hip replacement!  Because of the
arthritis I gimp a bit when I first stand up and that is worse if
I neglected the daily walk or the visit to the gym.
