February 2, 2015

It has been so long since I wrote in this blog it's hard to know where to
 start.

I see that my last post was 4 months ago.  The pic-line was out.
I continued shots for a while and then anti-biotic capsules by mouth,
4/day.  Eventually, that was cut to 3/day.  And that will continue
for the rest of my life.  These are specific to the staff infection
that I had, but if there are still bacteria left on the hardware in
my hip they would grow if/when I stopped.  That means I have
a 50/50 chance of having another infection.  The treatment
for that is so onerous I don't even want to think about it so I
 shall continue with the anti-biotic.

Robert and I are both doing well.  We feel good and are getting
more active physically.  I go to Frasier Meadows twice a week
to walk on the treadmill and to work out with Hannah, my
trainer.  In addition on the days I don't go there I walk locally.
I still have a long way to go.  It is very difficult, physically,
to walk 1/2 mile.  But, I shall keep at is and hope
that at some point it'll be easier.

Robert keeps busy with his computer games and with his puzzles.
Twice a week Kate comes to help him with projects.  Kate is a
27-year-old woman who works part time at a day-care and part-
time for us and does some babysitting. She loves learning how
o run the few machines that Robert has. She is a great worker.
She's strong and willing to tackle anything. Her latest project,
aside from working for us, was making small wood squares
with holes so the youngsters can wind yarn in and out of the
holes.  She care-fully sanded and finished them so they were
lovely to touch.

She comes tomorrow and they are going to take the trailer
and pick up a load of "broken" horse manure for my gardens
and to use around the threes, bushes and such.  Robert found
it on Craig's list.  I'm delighted!
