This has been a typical Springtime in the Rockies
week. 80 degrees on Wednesday and 24 degrees last
night. We've had sun and snow. Through it all
the tulips and daffodils remain open and unbowed.
Last Saturday Jo and Alf came for dinner. We always
enjoy having them come. The conversation is lively
and this time we talked of many books we've all
read recently. It is fun to share good books!
Sunday was Vernon's birthday so he came for dinner
in the evening. That, too, was fun. The conversation
tends to be more about hiking and good trails, crack
canyons and such. Vernon brought back a book and
took two more. It is nice to have books to share.
Monday and Tuesday Ariel had no school so she was
with us. She helped Robert unload and rake the
truck-load of dirt onto the extended parking area
so that we now have room for the truck, the
Saturn and the RV. It has been a lot of work for
Robert. Ariel is an enthused worker, but not a
terribly efficient one. She and I cleaned out the
closet where the art supplies are kept and took
inventory getting ready for summer. I had her
put them all back so that she will know where
everything is. The closet has a low ceiling
such that even she was bumping her head, but she
at least can stand up in the middle of it which
I cannot do.
She stayed over on Monday night and then Carl
picked her up at the East Boulder Rec center
Tuesday afternoon. She forgot to pack her
suit so we detoured to Target to get a suit
which will live at our house. She has PJs,
socks and underwear here already as well as
a hair brush and toothbrush. The packing is
getting easier.
Wednesday evening Alice and Gerard Ochs came for
dinner. Alice was to have more eye surgery on
Thursday. This is the third time for the one
eye. She has glaucoma and the pressure builds
up so fast that the surgery doesn't seem to do
a heck of a lot for her. She takes it with
good grace. It is difficult for them. She
can't drive and Gerard is nervous about
driving in Boulder. He's still OK driving in
Longmont, but her doctors are in Boulder.
I decided not to go to Carnegie on Thursday.
It had snowed over night and all though the
road was clear, we had a fire in the fireplace
and I had a good book, so I stayed home.
Today, Martha, Ariel and I were at Scott Carpenter
Park at 8:30 this morning to do TV spots for
Jared Polis. We were all (the total group of
us) about 30 people including children, not
counting dogs. The first clips were group
shots; then shots with 3 or 4 people and Jared.
I was in three of those, one included Martha.
Finally, Martha and I, each were in a one-on
one shot where we were giving testimonials for
Jared. I had been told they were doing those
in the afternoon so I wasn't prepared. I
was impressed with Martha. She looked really
good and spoke very well!
