President with whom we can believe who is articulate and
energetic, intelligent and motivated to fix as much as he
can of the horrors of the past 8 years! Robert and I spent
the whole day on the 20th from 8:30 AM to about 5 PM
watching the Inauguration. We both got moist eyes from time
to time.
Jo and Alf came for dinner on Saturday evening. That was
pleasant. We always enjoy their company. I served the
shrimp/crab casserole which is so yummy.
The weather last week was phenomenal! Mostly sunny and
the temperature in the high 60s or low 70s, perfect.
Yesterday and today it has been cold and snowy, but the sun
came out today so it looked truly beautiful.
On Thursday I went to the office of my US Congressman, Jared
Polis and met with Stuart Feinhor, a Constituent Advocated.
I shall be working with him on an outreach program for the
elderly. I'm not sure what the goal of this project is, but
shall find out soon, I'm sure. I start working tomorrow
afternoon. This is a volunteer position and I have offered
to work Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. I'm looking
forward to it.
Thursday, January 22nd was the 36th anniversary of the
Supreme Court decision on Roe v Wade. On Friday night we
went to Denver to the new Planned Parenthood offices to hear
Sarah Weddinton speak and to enjoy a reception. Ms
Weddington is a good speaker and filled us in on that day 36
years prior when she argued Roe V Wade in front of the US
Supreme Court. It was a pretty fantastic day for her and
for all women in the US.
On Saturday I went to an Open House at Jared's office. Carl
and Martha and Ariel went, too. I was there quite a while
before they showed up and did some "meet and greet" because
the staff seemed to be busy. Anyway I had people sign
the guest book and if willing, to fill out an interest form.
After the Cowleys arrived we went into the room where Jared
was greeting people and Carl and Martha filled out the forms
and Ariel kept saying she wanted to go home. However, when
we got to Jared and she saw him give me a big hug and a kiss
she beamed at him and shook his hand. He remembered her
name which is always a thrill.
