great time laughing and talking.
Sunday afternoon we went to Carl's and he cooked a
fabulous dinner for my birthday dinner. That was
fun and the food was great.
We watched "The Red Shoes" one evening, but most
evenings we have just talked.
Jeanne went to lunch with her high school drama coach
with whom she has kept in touch all these years. She
and I had lunch with Alice Haynes and her daughter,
Valerie. Alice and Val lived across the street from
us when we lived on Darley Avenue. Alice still lives
there, but is trying to sell her house so she can
move closer to Valerie. Val has worked for the CU
Credit Union for 17 years. She worked briefly for
NCAR, but they let her go when her first child was
born because he had a number of health issues and
she was not able to take care of him and still do
her job.
Tuesday evening Robert didn't feel good and complained
that his chest hurt when he coughed. I gave him some
cough drops and he had a good nights rest and claimed
to be better in the morning, but I was still concerned.
I had planned on picking up Ariel at school on Wednesday
because Carl was going skiing and Martha had a 2:30 PM
meeting. Jeanne picked her up instead.
On Thursday Martha had a doctor's appointment. She
had had an MRI for her neck pain and they had discovered
a nodule or cyst on her thyroid so she was to see an
endocrinologist. She called in the evening and they
still aren't sure what's going on. She'll have her
regular physical next week and a bunch of blood tests
and then they may do a needle aspiration to see if
they can get a handle on this cyst.
Today Nancy Cobble, a friend of Jeanne's from Helena came to
spend the day. Nancy is in Boulder for 9 months taking classes
in Homeopathy. She and Jeanne have been really close for many
years. It was fun to meet her. After Jeanne and Nancy had an
hour to play catch-up we all drove up to Big Horn Mountain and
waded through the snow to get in there. Most of the time we
could walk on top of the snow, but every once in a while you
would break through and end up with snow almost up to your
crotch. But, we made it up and back with no mishaps. The
weather was perfect. It must have been in the 50s and sunny and
clear! We had a lovely view of the divide and the snow covered
mountains in one direction and of Boulder and Denver and the
smog in Denver an other direction.

After our walk we stopped at the Gold Hill Store and had lunch.
Robert and I shared a burrito which was delicious. Nancy had a
spinach stuffed croissant which she claimed was also delicious
and Jeanne and a bowl of green chili with a tortilla on the side.
The food was impressive because you really never expect much from
the little cafe, but I have never been disappointed.
