The 4th of July

This has been a typical July week, weather wise, at least.

Robert and I spent time getting the motor home ready for
our trip to Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) next weekend.
An ominous sign appeared in our road which reads, "ROAD WORK
July 7 - 10 Except Delays." Now, what except delays actually
means is not clear. In any case we know they plan to replace
the culvert at Vernon's place which means our road is going
to be closed at some undetermined point for an undetermined
amount of time. Consequently we decided to move the RV
down the road and the Robinson's have agreed to let us
park it at their place. We'll move it tomorrow. I'll
not load the perishables until Thursday. We'll leave a
car below the junction so I can get to town to get the
groceries. Knowing how the county works we anticipate
they won't get started on the 7th nor will they be finished
on the 15th when we return from RMNP.

This week I have been calling registered Democrats in our
precinct. I have 270 people to call and in two days
managed to call 70. I hope to get the calling finished
before we go to RMNP, but I have to get them finished
before the Primary August 12th. I'm sure I can do that.

On Wednesday we had lunch at the Ochs' Tree House home
at the ranch. It was lovely and cool there and we ate
on the deck. They have three large humming bird feeders
up and they get emptied several times a day. Their deck
is a very busy place. Alice said that she has taken
the lower ones down because they still have bears, but
so far the bears have not made it to the upper deck.
Their meadow looked lovely with the blowing grass and a
half dozen or so horses grazing. They have a very
pretty place.
