This week I worked in the Obama office on Monday. It is a
very busy place as one might imagine. They always have work
for me to do, mind numbing type, but someone has to do it. I
have promised Ariel that she can help me this coming Monday.
So far they haven't given me anything to do that a 9-year-old
couldn't do as well.
We went to an event at Chautauqua in the evening. It was a panel
discussion on "The Future of Water in Boulder County." As you
might imagine it is a topic of great interest to many, including
us this having been the driest July on record, tied with 2003!
According to one panelist the future for water isn't as grim
as one might expect because people have learned to conserve and
because Boulder is pretty much built out. There are very few
remaining sites on which to build. Personally, I think he may
be surprised at how innovative developers can be with taking down
a house and replacing it with condos...but we can hope. In any
case he argues that in some places as soon as the population
conserves the city fathers say, "Oh, we have water enough for
another thousand people because we are only using x of x + Y..
so we can built out.
Carl and I had lunch on Friday with Ariel and then Ariel came
home with me. Carl and Martha came for dinner and to pick up
Ariel. Dinner wasn't great, except for the corn, but the
company made up for the lack thereof.
