A VERY quiet week

The last two weeks have been quiet ones as we
settle in from our trip.

We have had several snow storms since then. The
one yesterday, which was just a squall and short
lived, caused my cleaning crew to retreat for
home. They came today so we are clean and
shining again!

Another bit of excitement...you can guess how
quiet our life is..as we watch the amaryllis to
see if it is growing. I planted the
Christmas bulb on the 17th and YEA
today we can see that it has a little, tiny
bit of new growth. I'm guessing it is
alive and well and the growth will continue
and, hopefully, accelerate a little.

Robert's kids and grand kids came
for dinner last evening. Also Viki's partner,
Ed. We had turkey and many of the "fixin's,"
including apple pie.

After dinner they all, except Vernon, went
to the Salina Schoolhouse for a concert.
The report was that it was more jazz than blue
grass, but it was OK. Didn't sound
enthusiastic.

Liza presented us with a loaf of
home made bread as they were leaving.
Probably wise she waited until they
were leaving. I might have served it
and it would be gone. I did serve a
warm country loaf and it did disappear.

I've been walking every day and
doing at least 20 minutes of aerobics. I'm
hoping the exercise will keep my joints moving.

I am reading "The Worst Journey in the World."
It is an account by one of the surviving members
of Scott's expedition to the South Pole. (Apsley
Cherry-Garrard) It is fascinating and horrific.
How in the world anyone can survive some of
the side trips they made. I'm only half way
through and by now most of them should be
dead, but they aren't.

So...not a lot to report about our lives which
are so totally different from those who took
part in the above book.
