Kingston, NY

We checked out of our motel after a substantial
breakfast including eggs and waffles as an added
bonus to our room.

Our destination was Taughannock Falls State Park.
The ranger informed us that after Labor Day the
park was free except on weekends. That was
another bonus. The walk to the falls was an
easy one, but very pleasant. There were a
number of other folks on the trail, but it
wasn't too busy. I took a few pictures and
one that I shan't show here was of an area
where the locals and others, I suppose have
made rock sculptures by piling rocks. There

Upper Taughannock Falls

were hundreds of them from very small wee
ones to rather large ones. My picture
does not do them justice so I am not
using it.

After the walk and the park we drove
through the Catskills and are in
Kingston, NY. The AAA recommended
a restaurant that sounded good; a TexMex
restaurant. The instructions were
vague, but we struggled on and on and
on. We went in some circles and some
diagonals and finally found the place.
It was closed! It was not only closed,
but derelict says Robert. All the buildings
around it were boarded up and there
was no way we would have left our
car there even had it been open which
is perhaps why it is closed.

We returned to our hotel's adjoining
restaurant and had fajitas for dinner
and they were excellent. We had a
lovely dinner and probably enjoyed it
more because of our trials to find
the other.
